How we write our guides
This page explains how articles on plantspipe are made, so you can judge how far to trust them.
Sources first
Every article starts from research in published sources: botanical gardens, university extension services, the ASPCA and established horticultural publications. Specific numbers, ranges and safety statements come from those sources, and the sources are listed at the end of each article.
How the text is written
Each article is written from that researched material and checked before it is published: the main facts must match the sources, numbers must not be invented, and the text must answer the question in the title. We correct articles when readers or new sources show that something is wrong.
One plant, one care card
Each plant has one care card (light, watering, humidity, temperature, soil, feeding, size, toxicity). All articles about the plant use the same card, so the advice stays consistent.
Pet safety
We only say a plant is toxic or non-toxic to cats and dogs when the ASPCA or a veterinary or university source states it. Otherwise we say it is not confirmed. If your pet has eaten a plant, contact your vet or an animal poison control center right away.
Corrections and updates
Each article shows the date it was last updated. If you find a mistake, please tell us and we will check it against the sources.
Advertising
The site is free to read and is supported by advertising. Advertisers have no influence on what we write.
